Hi Alan,
It is Theo here, do you remember me? We stayed in one of your apartments during our time studying in Salvador earlier this year. I had a very hectic time travelling after I left Salvador and didn't get back home til September, I'm sorry I didn't send you a proper message to say thank you so so much for all your help while we were out there. The apartment was beautiful and we all loved it, we were so lucky to find you!

There should be some students from my university here coming to study in Salvador next semester (around february) and I have given them the details of you and your website so they can have a look. One of my friends going out, Bianca, actually visited us in the Salvador in the apartment and said she would love to stay there while she studied there, so you will hopefully hear from her soon!

I have also given the details of the website to my university to forward to the students in the department who will be going to Salvador in the future.

I hope everything is fine with you, I'm sure it is as it must be summer there now! As for us we had our first snow today... Very VERY cold! I want to move out to Brazil as soon as I finish my studies!

Good luck with everything.

Best wishes,

Theo.

Dear Alain,

We really enjoyed our stay in Salvador during July 2010, and I wanted to thank you for all of the personal assistance you provided - way beyond the normal rental agent !

The apartment was exactly as described and arranged, except that we weren't really prepared for the stunning views of the Baía de Todos os Santos

The maid was fantastic as well, and we really appreciated your help in lining up reliable and trustworthy taxi and van drivers.

This was one of the best and most memorable weeks imaginable, and we will definitely recommend you and your services to all of our friends!

Abraços,

Thanks so much for your help while we were there and particularly for helping out little johnny when he got sick! The Surf Doc did a great job getting him back into the groove of carnival (for better or worse!)

All the best

Hi Alain,

Thanks so much for all your help. We had an amazing time at Carnivale, the apartment was great (as was Joel´s), and I found your service impeccable. Took awhile for us all to recover, we were all really sick at Morro. I just had my first night drinking last night in Rio actually since Carnivale. It´s been rough trying to get back into it. But yep, Salvador was definitely a highlight of my trip. I have forwarded your email to Jay and Sam, and we will definitely use you again if we are back and will also recommend you to any friends coming over. I may be back home soon working for Flight Centre again, so as I mentioned before I will pass on your details to all the travel agents I work with as we send a lot of people over to Brazil and need a contact like you over there. Best wishes and hopefully things are a little calmer for you now too.

Caleb.

Hi Alain,

I thought you deserved a comment regarding my stay with you in a brand newly renovated apartment in Barra Flats from September 6th - 12th, 2008. I thought I'd better read the comments so far on your website to make sure I didn't repeat anything.

Folks, all the praise is true - attentive, hard-working, genuine, extremely concerned about pleasing the customer, and all the other things that other people say in their e-mails - that's Alain.

Oh, he is human and does get tired, but only after an 18 hour day! On the day I checked in at Barra Flats, it was late, and neither of us felt like checking the electricity meter. So we didn't. 7 days later, on an early morning departure, with no spare time, Barra Flats Reception got a bit mixed up and charged me a bill of R$184, or £50 (or about US$100, at the time). I had no time to query, so paid and contacted Alain by email, once I was back in Scotland.

He looked into it and immediately waived what I'd spent, which was R$16, and asked the best way to get the R$184 back to me. I knew I'd be back in Brazil in 6 months, so I asked him to look after it for me. He did.

Yesterday through a friend's Brazilian bank account, the transfer was made and I am now that R$184 richer (not enough to buy General Motors or a Britisk Bank perhaps, well not yet anyway, but a happy laddie - laddie = Scots word for a person of male gender).

So just add in honest to all the comments that you have seen above and elsewhere.

Oh I nearly forgot, how would I rate my apartment? 10 out of 10 - but you'd have guessed anyway.

So, don't go elsewhere, book with Alain and forget about worrying. Please feel free to contact me for any further information.

Keep up the excellent work, Alain, and THANKS AGAIN!!!

Kind regards,
Richard

We've cleaned up, and hopefully left everything as we found it. Dora (the maid) took great good care of us as well, and i tried to tell her so in my broken portuguese, but in case she didn't understand (though i think she did) please tell her again for us that we thank her from our hearts.

I will recommend this comfortable home away from home to friends coming to bahia.

Every year, I organize a trip for a group of mutual friends over the new year holiday. We are typically between 6 and 10 people, and we've learned in 5+ years that we prefer apartment or house accommodations in most of our locales. As a general rule, apartments promote a more social atmosphere and they're usually cheaper.  The downside of renting apartments is that usually the apartments are not as described, and the owners/agents can be very difficult or elusive.

Our experience at the Paul Cezanne in Salvador and with Alain couldn't have been any different. He was always responsive, amenable and a really great guy. We sent the complete payment for the apartment 5 months in advance, and though I was nervous, he certainly made good. The apartments were (get ready for it) even nicer than they appeared online, and Alain did everything he could to make us feel comfortable. Heck, if you're nice, he might even share some of his secrets for enjoying Salvador, as he graciously did with us. Our experience in Bahia would not have been the same without his attention to detail and excellent service.

Everyone on our trip (7 this year) felt as though they made a friend both in Salvador and with Alain. That says a lot.

If you want to talk about my experience in Salvador, you can write me at "gzicherm at gmail . com".

This is a perfect apartment for carnival and we will certainly be back.  We appreciated your professionalism and the speed with which you got back to our e-mails and calls.  We will definitely use you again - in fact we are already planning to.  We have also recommended you to friends and to the office.

How are you, dear friend?

Thank you for the e-mail.  My trip home was "interesting"... I missed my connection flight in Sao Paulo, but I got a chance to spend the day in there before returning to NYC... so I made the most of it!  :)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Salvador and truly fell in love with the Paul Cezanne II apartment.  It felt (and looked) just like home... Lord knows I fell asleep by the pool a few times during my stay (and I have the tan lines to prove it!) HA! HA! HA!

I will certainly have my friends look you up if they make it to Salvador in the future... and you know you'll be the first one I call on my next trip to Salvador.  Thanks again for all your help... and for really taking care of me while I was there.  I truly appreciate all that you did for me!

Have a great one, Alain... tell Ana (and the cat!) I said hello!  :)

Hi Alain,

What a pleasant surprise to hear from you. I hope that you are well
and business is still going strongly in Salvador.

It was my pleasure to refer my friends to you. I had only positive
experiences dealing with you and a day doesn't go by when I think
about how much fun I had during Carnivale. This was in large due the
place we stayed and the people we met in Salvador.

As you can imagine, booking accommodation for such a peak period
requires a certain amount of forward planning, and with that requires
trust in the people you are dealing with. I know this was a concern
for Kristy and telling her about my experience dealing with you
reassured her greatly.

I guess what i am trying to say is that there is no need to thank me.
If you run a business, provide a value for money product and treat
your customers well, then you deserve to be spoken highly of.

I hope to one day see you again in Salvador!

No Paul Cezanne estavamos no céu....literalmente!

Um forte abraço e muito sucesso. Dos seus eternos clientes e amigos.

Hi Alain

I thought that I would send you a few lines to say thank you for all assistance in making our trip to Salvador such a memorable event: it is probably the best family holiday we have ever had! Please feel free to post this message on your webpage as encouragement to others who are considering a holiday in Brazil.

I have worked in Brazil in recent years and have visited numerous cities in states of Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo; but I had never previously visited Bahia: my wife and daughter had never been to Brazil and were (not surprisingly) a little nervous about it. No matter how much I tried to assure them that everything would be OK they still had visions of it being like India – but with football instead of cricket. All those TV programs about crime in the Rio favellas did nothing to boost their confidence. But now they have been, and they have seen ………………… and they just want to go back again!

For those who have never visited Brazil, what are you waiting for? Grab the next available flight and go and sample the fabulous climate; heavenly beaches; wonderful food; and tremendous service: go and see a place where life is both vibrant and laid-back. This is the Mediterranean - without the prices: developed in terms of restaurants, shops and transport but without the pressures, plastic and kitsch of most other up & coming holiday destinations. Sure, you hear about muggings – but these are pretty-much confined to the tourist traps: you wouldn’t flash your cash in downtown USA or UK these days, so don’t do it in Brazil. Use a bit of common sense and you will be fine. And if in doubt, take a taxi – there cheap and plentiful (and the drivers are usually pretty helpful).

So having decided that Brazil is safe to visit, and that Salvador is where it’s at, where do you stay? Pelourinho is a great place to visit - but its hoards of day-trippers and market-place atmosphere can become somewhat oppressive after a while. How about somewhere a few minutes taxi-ride away? Somewhere with beaches and sea-breezes. Somewhere with cafes and restaurants and shops. Somewhere that is quiet and safe yet has all your day-to-day needs right on your doorstep. Welcome to Paul Cezanne! A luxury apartment block with its own pool, gym, sauna, football-pitch - and just a couple of minutes walk from the beach. The apartment is spacious, air conditioned and well-equipped: it is in a quiet side-street yet it only a few minutes walk from banks, supermarkets and the prestigious Barra Shopping Mall. As this is a residential area the side-street are safe. This is where ordinary people live their everyday lives and go about thei r everyday business so the shops sell everyday goods at everyday prices. And as Barra is effectively a peninsula the back-streets provide short–cuts to everywhere!

Go and sample Brazil the way that Brazilians do. Forget the plastic resorts or faceless hotels, go mingle with the natives.

But beware, there is a downside. My wife and I are a couple of fifty-somethings with a seventeen year-old daughter. We thought we had finally reached the point where she would go her own way and leave us in peace; but she loved Brazil so much that she is more than happy to tolerate the old-folks if it means that she can go back there again! …………. and that’s just the opposite of what she said after Spain and Florida!

So go and grab those plane tickets – just make sure you leave some for us!

Regards

Dear Fellow Travelers,

I can't endorse Alain's services and apartments enough!! It is always difficult as a tourist to know who to trust when it comes to renting an apartment, especially when you barely speak the language. Alain's command of both the English and Portuguese (as well as a host of others) languages helps him to put his clients in contact with all of the right people. He helped us get our internet set up, get bottled water delivery and gave great recommendations for music (check out Olivier's) and delicious food. He was especially helpful in securing me a terrific translator/interpreter to help me with my scholarly research on the Candomble religion, which was born in Bahia.

The first time I spoke to Alain, I was immediately put to ease because he is one of the friendliest as well as most professional realtors in Salvador. Believe me, I spoke to 4 different people before settling with Alain. I probably drove him crazy with my indecision, but he never seemed impatient or angry with me at all. He was always courteous, professional and ready to help me find the right apartment where I would feel safe and secure.

Salvador is one of the most lovely places on earth - in fact, while we were there my boyfriend and I decided to get married!! We were wed on August 5, 2006 and we did a ceremony on the beach in honor of the Brazilian goddess of the ocean, Iemanja. Thanks to Alain's help we really enjoyed our first trip to Brazil and to Salvador da Bahia. And we will definitely go back!!

Oi Alain!

Como vai? Tudo Bem?

Here all is good! Arrived well in Sao Paolo and back to work!

I would like to thank you Alain for helping us as much as you did. I did not know what to expect from an apartment in Bahia, and I can tell you that the apartment in the Paul Cezanne building was AMAZING, and you know how much we travel and what we are used to; living the touring life and staying in nice properties all the time. The apartment was very comfortable, the furniture was just beautiful (we can also call it gorgeous) and it was super clean. Plus it is ideally located; what more could we wish for on our holiday?
What definitely was great was the ocean view from every single room in the apartment; it did not matter where we were in the apartment: kitchen, living room or bed rooms, you always saw the ocean, which was very very nice.

And also your help with personal matters, Alain, was very much appreciated. We could call you for any question we had and you would help us out; we asked you for restaurants, shops, doctors; and we got our answers. And that was a service you provided without cost, so thank you very much for that, Alain, you are great! You made my holiday really really nice and I really appreciate that!

If you would ever come to Sao Paolo or Rio when Saltimbanco is there; let me know and I will arrange some nice seats for you as a thank you.

Ciao Alain and maybe we will see each other again!

Dear Alain,

How are things in beautiful Salvador? I have now finished my holiday
and am back to the cold and wet of Dublin. Carnaval is just a distant
memory...!
Thanks so much for helping us out in loads of ways. Don't worry about
the camera, girls never go on holiday without losing something!
Here is a letter of recommendation.

Thanks again, Kim

Myself and 3 friends were lucky enough to find Alain's website, and I
found him extremely helpful right from when I first made contact with
him. The apartment we stayed in was lovely, everything the photos
promised it would be. And it was in a superb location too. Alain went
out of his way to find us further accommodation at the last minute
(which no doubt was incredibly difficult considering it was the week
of Carnaval!) when we found we were staying one more night than
originally planned. I was really impressed with Alain's attention to
detail and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure we had a great
time in Salvador during Carnaval. Which we did!

I would have no hesitation in recommending his services to anyone.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I could not be more pleased with the apartment Alain Zamrini so kindly arranged for me to stay in from 16 August 05 to 12 December 05. The apartment itself is simply furnished, clean, and comfortable. I am working on a screenplay, and it is wonderful to be able use the ocean-view balcony; there's hardly any traffic noise at all. There is a well-maintained swimming pool in which I can do laps, and the beach is just a few minutes away. There are several good restaurants in this fine neighborhood, a delicatessen right next door, and a shopping mall just around the corner.

It is doubtful that you will find a better contact than Alain here in Salvador. He gets things done, and fast. When I moved into Barra Tropical, he was kind enough to familiarize me with shops in the neighborhood. He even helped me get a few necessities. He's extremely knowledgeable about Salvador, and what he doesn't know he finds out quickly. In addition to that, Alain is a very nice guy.

Sincerely,

Warren Glenn Calhoun

To whom it may concern:

This is a letter of recommendation for Alain Zamrini. We have been renters
of Alain´s for a month, and hope to continue our association with him for
several more, until our departure from Brasil. Upon our arrival in Salvador,
we were overwhelmed with the task of finding an apartment that suited our
liking, was within our price range, and was rented by someone honest and
starightforward. Alain accomodated us extremely well in all three areas.
During our first meeting, he found out exactly what we were looking for in
terms of apartment facilities and size. He never attempted to convince us of
something else, he just listened and took our needs into account. He then
found two apartments, both of which were very nice, within our price range
and perfect for us. After showing us both apartments, we chose one, and
Alain completed the rental transaction within a day, so that we could move
in as quickly as possible. Alain is very honest, straightforward and eager
to help. I appreciated his energy and enthusiasm very much. I would
absolutely recommend any renter or buyer of property to seek Alain´s help.

Best regards,

Rebecca Greenberg

Dear Alain,

We want to thank you making our recent stay in Salvador  during our Honeymoon truly memorable.  You provided us a very modern, clean, well serviced apartment in an excellent location for what seemed to us a very fair price.  In this, you more than met our expectations.   But far more valuable to us was your  knowledge of the city and your enthusiasm in sharing your thoughts, insights, and suggestions.  This enabled us to see a side of Salvador we never would have experienced without your help, and is the reason we would hope to see your adopted city again in the near future.  Goodluck with your business, and please feel free to use us as a reference for any potential future clients.  We will be happy to share our positive experiences with them.

Dear Alain,

we would like to thank you for your wonderful efforts. Not only did you organize the apartment in the Oceania building which worked out seamlessly but you also didn't promise too much. The apartment is gorgeous, spacious and with everything you want. The extra service with the maid preparing breakfest every morning was a plus. We had a fantastic time in March in Salvador de Bahia. What was even more important was the fact that you showed us around. You showed us where to eat, drink and have fun. The tour to the most beautiful beaches is unforgettable.  Your strong comand of the Portuguese language and help in translating was outstanding. You are a  trustworthy person who always has a helping hand. I fully recommend your services to anyone travelling to Salvador. Alain,

The 'Chimbalada Bloco' arrived home safely after much travel and a full day in Sao Paulo.  You were right about SP being just another big cosmopolitan city.  It sprawls on and on forever.  In our travels, we heard a few disappointing reports on the Rio experience, so we are especially pleased to have had a more authentic Carnaval - Salvador style, under the hot Bahian sun.

I wanted to thank you again for helping to make our Carnaval trip to Salvador a very memorable one.  Everything you mentioned during the planning process met or exceeded expectations.  From our initial phone conversation right through to when we handed over the keys, you were very thorough and helpful.  Our Salvador experience would not have been as rich and enjoyable without your guidance and efforts to get us settled in the apartment, on the Barra beach and in the Timbalada bloco.

I have attached a few of our photos that are hot off the presses.  One from the pre-Carnaval party we went to in Toronto and a couple from the Timbalada bloco - Leo & Tatoo had a blast.

Best of luck to you.

Mucho Obrigado,
Scott & the Toronto Timbalada Crew

After travelling through Brazil for a month I really looked forward to staying put in Salvador for a while. And my stay actually exceeded my expectations - much thanks to Alain; for renting me an excellent appt in Summer Flat, for giving me a (several) grand tour(s) of Salvador and it`s thrilling day and nightlife, for introducing me to a lot of people in Bahia, ..... to summarize - for making my stay as good as possible.

Everything regarding the renting process were professional - my e-mails were answered the same day, the money matter sorted out, the appt was clean and ready when I arrived, ....

The next time I go to Salvador, which I guess is in a couple of months since I`m in the area, I will certainly use Alain to get a place to stay!

Dear Alain & company,

Where should I begin? I am beyond grateful for the overwhelming warmth, selflessness, and straight up L-O-V-E that you all shared with my brother, mom, aunt, and me.

It was quite an experience to travel and live alone for a little over two months in Bahia; especially since I was a young lady in a foreign country far from her all too familiar New York cosmopolitan setting. No, I was all by my lonesome with absolutely no family. But Alain, you and all of your pulchritudinous people soon found a warm and cozy little place in my heart.

The spacious apartment in Barra was deliciously delightful! being so close to the beach and anything else that my little NYC mind desired. It was exactly what I needed: open space, fresh air, the spellbinding song of the sea, a refreshing reflective view, a phone, a full kitchen & laundry room, a door man, and fully furnished with all of the latest electronics... "comfort at my fingertips"

You and your trusty, beautiful assistant Juci were available for all of my inquiries and mini-crisis situations, like when I had lost my keys (both times). Y'all were ALWAYS there to comfort, support me, and hook me up with good ol' "Junior the locksmith" (at a VERY discounted price ... ahem ... ahem) ... bargaining, hustling, and bustling Brazil style. I really cannot put into words how soulful you are Alain! It is an honor to have you in our lives, since to how you are a centripetal part of our (my family) fondest memories of Brazil! Gracias muchisimo! Most of all, thank you leaps and bounds for being someone that I can trust; you are an honest, splendiferous man with a colorful, elastic, and flexible approach to conducting a business. You are so intelligent, observant, and sensitive! Thank you for being you!

"Obrigado por tudo my brother from another mother!!"

Muito amor e axe,
o seu amiga,

Jenn Jade

Como vai? Tudo bom? Belleza! Wassup man. I am still adjusting back to our life here after a fantastic time in Salvador. I want to thank you for your trustworthy service and your warm hospitality.

Our stay in Magarida's Place was perfect: centrally located in Porto de Barra; two and half blocks from a great beach that was very clean with many beautiful sights; well decorated; close to Shopping Barra and busses to the Pelourinho, Victoria, Rio Vermelho, Pituba... and our side trip to Morro de Sao Paulo was amazing. It was also nice to have a fridge and stove because we we able to cook and store food. The washing machine was also invaluable in helping us keep it together on the road.

I also want to thank you for hooking us up with people like Marzinho and the chaveiros. It certainly made things easier with good connections.

And thanks for hooking me up with Lorenço Carvalho and the Salvador Jazz scene. Being able to jam with all of those excellent Brazilian musicians in those different clubs was a highlight for me and my family.

I am looking forward to retuning to Salvador in the future. My expectations were far exceeded.I will get my sister to send you some photos when she gets them developed.

Give my best regards to Josi. Muito obrigado por tudo e...

We rented the 3 bedroom place that he has on his website and it was really nice. Alain provided us with directions on where to go. He took us out for dinner on occusion in the different parts of town. He introduced us to alot of his local friends. He really made us feel at home while we were there. He provided a free ride to and from the airport so we didnt have to worry about getting to our place when we got there. Anything that the apartment didnt have like towels and small stuff he tried to provide for us. He made all 6 of us feel at home while we were there. Wonderful guy and funny too. We are planning to return for Carnival 2004 and we will be using Alain again to find us a really nice place to rent. As far as money goes, we just cable wired the money to his bank in Brazil which was really easy to do. He will give you his bank info and you just go to your bank and Cable wire it to his bank. EASY! We had to put down half the rent before we got there and we had to give the other half and a little security deposit when we got there. We're back home to our reality after a great few weeks in Salvador including the euphoria of its Carnival... it was amazing. I especially wanted to thank Alain for his apartment rental service. We made arrangements to rent a 3 bedroom apartment in the Barra neighborhood. We did all of it through e-mail and the process was efficient, fast and professional. On our arrival to Salvador, we were very satisfied with our apartment and the place was exactly as we were told and just what we expected. Alain also went out of his way to make sure our stay went smoothly and he helped ensure that we had everything we needed.

In addition, I'm still extremely grateful for the personal attention and friendly recommendations he gave us throughout our stay there. Thanks to his help and his knowledge of the city, we feel that we experienced Salvador at a more intimate level... We will come back!

I wanted to drop you a line to say thanks so very much for helping us set up our accomodations in Salvador (Marcia and her family and friends were wonderful) and also to say it was great meeting you in person, although it was for just a moment! Randy, Salvador is everything you say it is in your website and Costa do Sauipe was a great place for recovery from all the revelry! I can hardly wait for next year! My instinct tells me I will be back much sooner! Until then, um ambraçao!

Subject: Renting appartment

Dear Randy,

I rented an appartment through Alain's site. It was really a very nice appartment, convenient with a spectacular view of Salvador. I felt like a nabab. Alain is doing a great job for the tourists. He is a very great help for foreigneirs. Thanks and continue with your very good site.

Subject: Bahian Connections

Over the past few years I have heard SO MANY exciting things about Brazil; the exotic culture, the spicy food, the magnificent beaches, and, most of all, the incredibly passionate and friendly people. I wanted to discover if it was all true. I began my search at home on my computer. I was incredibly fortunate to discover a wonderful web-site that not only helped me choose the best area of Brazil to visit (Bahia-Salvador), but connected me to all the best people to make my adventure as easy as possible. It has everything to inform you about the places and people of Salvador and help you get the best lodging sites available to put you right in the middle of the best action in Brazil. I am here now in December of 2002 (in an apartment I rented through Alain; everything turned out just as he'd said in the e-mails we exchanged, and in addition to getting me a great apartment he helped me move right into the whirlwind of a scene here).

I can tell you that www.bahia-online.net made my dream a reality and brought the best of Brazil to my doorstep. PLEASE, do yourself a HUGE favor and click www.bahia-online.net and have the time of your life!!! TCHAU and OBRIGADO !!

Subject: letter of recommendation

Dear Fellow Travelers...

My name is Barry and I'm currently living in Miami Beach. Alain has asked me to write him a letter of reference. I met Alain a couple of years back when I was visiting Salvador. When I returned to Salvador for Carnival I wound up renting out his apartment for a couple of weeks. The rental went very smooth, and all monies that were forwarded to him went as discussed. I found him to be very honorable and worth making travel arrangemnets to Salvador with. I also found that as a resident there he knew where to go for many things that I needed or wanted.

If you need any further information or feedback... feel free to write me. I am in Costa Rica right now and will be happy to assist both you or Alain.

Sincerely
Barry
