Carnival notes for the Hotel Catharina Paraguaçu:

This is without a doubt the best Carnival price going for a decent hotel in Salvador (and the Catharina Paraguaçu is much more than decent!). The trade-off, such as it is, is that the hotel is in Rio Vermelho, somewhat to the north of Ondina (where the Barra-Ondina circuit ends). But five minutes in a taxi and you are in the thick of Carnival. The Catharina Paraguaçu is an excellent deal.
