Upstairs Living (furnishings have been changed)

Doug Simon bought and rebuilt a colonial-era house in the neighborhood of Santo Antônio, in Salvador. The house sits on a residential street, between the Forte de Santo Antônio (home base for two of Bahia's most renowned capoeira grandmasters) and Pelourinho (a five-minute stroll away), the old colonial heart of Salvador and one of South America's liveliest scenes (bars, cafés, and restaurants). The back of the house looks out over the Baia de Todos os Santos (Bay of All Saints), and the island of Itaparica can be seen across the water (on the left-hand side, in the distance, in the photo above).
