Ingredients
- 1 Lime
- 2 Teaspoons of sugar (more be added to taste, if necessary)
- 1 Shot of cachaça
- Enough crushed ice to top off the glass
Procedure
- Cut both ends off of the lime, and then halve it. Remove the white inner strands (they lend an undesirable bitterness to the drink).
- Quarter each half-lime and add the lime pieces to the glass.
- Add the sugar, pouring it over the cut lime.
- Crush the lime pieces and sugar together, being sure to squeeze the juice from the lime.
- Top the glass with crushed ice (ice cubes don't melt fast enough to bring the potent mixture down to a reasonable proof).
- Pour the cachaça over the ice.
- Shake (with a bar shaker) the concoction (shaking blends the ingredients -- particularly the sugar -- in a manner unobtainable by simply stirring).
- Serve with a small straw, while dreaming of cool breezes and hot rhythms!
